The Fircrest Derby Days is a designed to be a family event.
Our goal is to bring family and community together in the
spirit of the old school soapbox derby. We are an
unsanctioned purely for fun event. We divide our cars into
two categories to give every kid the opportunity to compete
fairly. Our category distinctions are based on the type of
car and wheels that your driver will enter into the race. A
derby elite car is the traditional soap box derby stock car
including the Z Glass or similar style wheels. The Derby
Custom Class car is a car built from your own design. Please
note that if you build a custom car but choose to use
traditional Z Glass style wheels, you will be put into the
the elite class.
Because our event is designed for family fun, our course is
set us as single track, time trial racing. Due to safety
reasons, we have restricted the turning radius this year to
half an inch in the front axle. We hope to see you out at
the Electron Speedway!!
Minimum age for Driver has been set at 5yrs old. all drivers
must prove that they have the ability to deploy the brake at
the appropriate time. Any driver may be removed from the
race at anytime should they be deemed unsafe by race
officials.
Helmets should protect the head and cover the drivers ears
at minimum. Full helmets are preferred but a 3/4 design will
meet the requirement.
